Weekly update week 8

Friday 21 Pipiri

Hello everyone,

Today is a is Sparkle day!!!  Sparkle day is when everyone (not everyone) dresses up in sparkly clothes and be as kind as they can.  It is a fun day for most because everyone sings to 'Get your sparkle on' music off barbie.  I can't wait for assembly.

Another thing that I can't wait for is the Investec Super Rugby quarter final between The mighty Crusaders and the boring Highlanders (a warning for the Highlander fans you might need tissues!) Sorry for being mean Highlander fans.  But it will be a tough game because the Highlanders have their Smiths back.  Go the Crusaders!!!

weekly update Friday 14 June

Friday 14 June

Hello,

This week I have enjoyed the Black caps v  India World Cup cricket game but it got rained off which was very sad but at least the Black caps are top of the table.

The one thing I need to work on is schoolwork because I have only been here one day and I liked working on our inquiry.

I did not learn much because I was only here one day but in Fiji I learnt some Fijian like how to say hello and how to say thank you and how to say ssh.

Hello everyone,

This week was very fun!!  Yesterday we did our 2nd week of winter sport. Our rugby team won both of our 2 games we bet st martians 4-0 and bet addington 5-4.  They were both great sides and they were hard to bet.  We have had 4 games and we have won all of them.

This week we finished of our action plan and did a stop motion to convince people to stop littering and killing eels.  I did it with Xander,Martin,William.

Another thing we finished of this week was our Mary slideshow where we learned about all the major events in Mary's life.

weekly reflection week 3

Ramere 17 Haratua

Kia ora everyone happy pink shirt day,

This week we had many fun things and one of them for me was winter sport where we had a choice of rugby, soccer, netball and hockey.  My choice out of the four was rugby.  I chose rugby because it is my favourite winter sport and I play it on Saturdays.  Our team had 2 games of rapid rugby.  It is rugby with no line outs, no scrums and a smaller field and less time.  We had 2 games of that one against St Francis of Assisi and West Spreydon.  We ended up the day with one close win and a win that we smashed up in.

Another cool thing for me was finishing of our plan to save the eels.  My group did a stop motion and took a long time to plan and get what we need we did the stop motion to stop pollution.  It was a fun process and in the end it was fun to make.

Today is Pink Shirt Day!!  Pink Shirt day is to encourage anti-bullying.  Everybody dresses up in pink and this day was created by a boy who got bullied for wearing pink.  It is a fun day.

weekly update week 2

Friday 10 may

Good afternoon,

Welcome to term 2!  This week we have had cross country Catholic sports tournament cross country was very fun and very exciting day.  The year 5/6 race was 2.4km it was very long and hard run.  The highlight for me was it was really fun to watch and race.  the lowlight for me that it was really scary at the start.

Another great thing about this week we did was Catholic sports tournament. I decided to try soccer.  We had 7 10 minute games we tied 1 and lose 6 and only scored one goal the whole tournament but on the upside it was really fun to play in.

End of term reflection

Friday 12 April

This term we did a lot of cool things like korfball and caritas challenge day to name a few but here is my favorites and why.

One of my favorite things this year was korfball.  It is netball and basketball combined it was really fun trying to make big shots and doing good defence.

Another cool thing about this term was swimming sports.  A lot of people went to zones and got even further they made it to Canterbury swimming sports.  It was very fun swimming against my mates at something I am average at.

Something else I mentioned in the introduction was caritas challenge day it was when we pretended we were in South Sudan we built cardboard houses and we ate rice.

Something we only finished yesterday was cycle safety.  Cycle safety is when a group of instructors thought a group of people the road rules.  We went on road and played lots of cool games I enjoyed it very much.

What I am looking forward to next term is winter sport were I will be playing one of my favorite sports rugby union(tackle) and hopefully make it to Canterbury rugby competition.

Caritas challenge

Friday 5 April

Hello everyone,

Hello. We did a refugee day. We made houses out of cardboard and we had rice for lunch.  The highlight of the day for me was making houses out of cardboard. It was a lot of fun apart from the wind coming halfway through making houses and it started to get really frustrating.  An interesting part about making the houses is that its harder than it looks.

Phil and Janet-missionaries in south sudan

Thursday 21 march

Saba-al-khair,

Today we had two missionaries from South Sudan come in to talk to us about what's it like to live in South Sudan.

* They taught us that 100 pounds in South Sudan would be 30 cents in New Zealand!!!
* The average age in South Sudan to live to is 47
* In South Sudan there are 65 languages.
*They get up to about 42 degrees at day
*The most popular way of transport is motorbike in the capital (Juba)
*Some people have red hair because they put cow pee in their hair
*When they go to bed it is so hot they put the sheets in the cold shower and put it over them
* When they go to the toilet they crouch over the toilet
*They mark themselves with razor blades to show what tribe they are from
* The only sports are volleyball and soccer
*It is very dangerous to drive because you get robbed or killed so they take planes
*The house doors are so small that you have to crawl to get in

Tuesday 19 march

Hello everyone,

Today we had a live webinar about the water.  I learnt a lot of interesting facts about our water.  A cool thing that I found out about is fossil water which is water deep deep down so we can't grab it,another cool thing was groundwater never runs out which I think was amazing, seawater can turn into freshwater it is called Desalination.  You can only use a certain amount of water on farms - if you go over that limit you can get fined.

Hello,

This week has been amazing!!  The highlight for me this week was our eel trip on Thursday.  We learnt about the trap to catch eels.  We learned about ephemeral art which was nature art which was my favourite part.  And we learned some much about eels and a little bit of water bugs
